Shuhari Martial Arts

A traditional martial arts dojo. This is the successor dojo to the one originally established in Sarasota by Shihan Mitsugi Saotome back in 1975. The instructors here are his direct students and fully affiliated with the IAF International World Headquarters (Hombu) in Japan. We are dedicated to sharing and rediscovering O Sensei's teachings in our daily practice, with joy and good humor, every day.

Our mission at Gustavo Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Sarasota (GM BJJ-SRQ) is to enhance our students lives through the practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, “The Gentle Art.” Students will learn and master the skills required to take an opponent to the ground (take-downs), control an opponent through various combinations of structured movements to gain a dominant position (grappling), and using a number of techniques such as joint locks or strangulations to subdue one’s opponent (submission holds). At GMBJJ Sarasota, we provide our students with the highest level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu education in a positive, uplifting, and family environment.

Sunset Coast Karate Studio is more than a karate school, it’s a family and a launchpad for confident, disciplined leaders. We serve ages 5 through adult with structured classes by age, not just rank, so every student grows at their pace while learning leadership and respect. We offer flexible open schedules, private lessons, school and church programs, camps, Parents Night Out, and high level training for students ready to level up. Our focus goes beyond kicks and punches, we build character, confidence, and community that lasts a lifetime.
