South Gate Community Center

Welcome to the YMCA of Southwest Florida. We’re an inclusive, nonprofit organization of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. We’re glad you’re here! Every day, the Y strengthens communities for kids, adults, seniors and families with programs that protect, teach, connect, heal nourish and encourage. It's how we help communities and the "us" who live in them find the power of their full potential.

Lee Wetherington Boys & Girls Club offers summer camps and after school programs in Sarasota for ages 6-18. We provide academic support, leadership, and healthy activities in a safe, welcoming environment where every child thrives. Dedicated in 2004 as our largest facility, the Club features a gymnasium, swimming pool, rock climbing wall, computer lab, art room, commercial kitchen, and playground. We offer summer camps in Sarasota and afterschool programs year-round. Our specialized teen programs include college prep, career training, and entrepreneurship development. Club members receive a nutritious snack and benefit from caring staff who help them become future-ready leaders and changemakers through engaging, enriching activities.

This community property and clubhouse has been deeded to the residents of the Maine Colony District since the 1920s.
