Sarasota’s October calendar offers farm outings, a free waterfront Halloween celebration and a neighborhood chili fundraiser, giving families several ways to plan the next few weekends.
Fruitville Grove’s Pumpkin Festival continues October 10–11, 17–18, 24–25 and October 31–November 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5, children six and younger enter free, and parking is free. Hayrides and other attractions have separate charges.
Nearby Hunsader Farms in Bradenton holds its festival October 10–11, 17–18 and 24–25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission costs $15 for ages 10 and older, $5 for ages five through nine, and nothing for younger children. Parking is $5; admission and parking are cash only.
Boo! at The Bay brings free trick-or-treating, pumpkin decorating and an outdoor movie to Sarasota on October 17, from 5 to 7:45 p.m. Pumpkins are limited to the first 1,800 children. Food-truck purchases cost extra.
Morton’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off is October 11, with the main event from 2–5 p.m. and an earlier 1:45 p.m. listing. The visitor guide lists free entry and $15 chili tasting. Proceeds support the Sarasota Fire Fighter’s Benevolent Fund.
